International Francophonie Day in the twin cities

Every year, the Pole of the International Relations invites its twin and partner cities to participate to the International Francophonie Day.

Since 1990, the French speakers of all the continents celebrate every March 20th the International Francophonie Day. It is a day dedicated to the French language which gathers more than 890 million men and women in 78 states and governments of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF). The date of March 20th was retained in commemoration of the signature, in 1970 in Niamey (Niger), the convention concerning the creation of the OIF. During this day, all the French speakers around the world have the opportunity to assert their solidarity and their desire to live together, with their differences and their diversity by sharing universal values.
