  • Geographical situation: 2nd city in Belarus, Gomel is situated in the South-East of the country.


 


Second largest city in the Republic of Belarus, Gomel is an important crossroad for railways linking the country to the Black Sea, Ukraine and South Russia. The Economic activity is centred on Food and Fabric industry, tool industry and agricultural machines, chemical industry and wood treatment.


Every year, Gomel Economic Forum offers the possibility to find partners to invest, or develop commerce. The International Fair « Spring in Gomel » attracts more and more participants and visitors each year.

Gomel is also the administrative, industrial and cultural center, one of the six regions of the Republic of Belarus. The International Festival of Danse « Sojski Karagod » is an important artistic rendez-vous.


Exchanges between Clermont-Ferrand and Gomel have been developing for 30 years. Tight links have existed for more than fifteen years between students of Gomel IFBG and the Management Institute of Clermont-Ferrand. French Students undertake their training in companies in Gomel, and Belarusian students are welcomed at Clermont-Ferrand Management Institute for several months. 


With the Support of the Pole Of International Relations, students of Blaise Pascal French School, which was renamed in 2008 in the honour of the Famous Clermont-Ferrand Philosopher and is situated Clermont-Ferrand street in Gomel, come every year to follow a linguistic internship at the Lycées Jeanne d’Arc and Blaise Pascal. These students were awarded the Price of Foreign French Essay several times.


The Pole of International Relations permits numerous exchanges with sport clubs, Gomel Circus, Musicians and Clermont-Ferrand Dancing School. Furthermore, the association “ les Voix du Monde” is leading a remarkable cooperation with Tchaikovsky Music School. Photography Exhibitions are regularly presented between the two cities in the frame of cultural exchanges. Nowadays, the Pole of International Relations is willing to develop economic cooperation with Gomel.
